Is Your Pillow Filling the 'Comfort Gap'? Part 3

Sleeping on your side creates a gap between the side of your head and the 'crown of your shoulder' at the sleep surface (your bed) we call your 'Comfort Gap'. 

This is the area we need to fill with your pillow so that you maintain a good sleep posture, neck and spine alignment, while you side sleep.

The firmer the mattress the larger your 'Comfort Gap' will be and, generally speaking, the thicker, or firmer, your pillow will need to be for your comfort. 

Side sleepers who sleep on a firm mattress have the largest 'Comfort Gap' and might need a 'firm pillow'

Side sleepers who sleep on a medium mattress have the largest 'Comfort Gap' and might need a 'medium pillow'.

Side sleepers who sleep on a soft mattress have the smallest 'Comfort Gap' and might need a 'soft pillow'

In general, mattresses can be categorized as soft, medium, or firm to help guide you when using the formula.

Remember, soft, medium and firm is very subjective and selecting a pillow is a very personal decision. The formula is more a guideline to help you choose the perfect pillow.
