Goose down pillows are pillows primarily made using goose down clusters. Down is primarily used to trap air, in order to keep the goose warm. At Down and Feather Company, we use only the finest Hungarian white goose down. The clusters that we use are located near the chest of the bird, because they are soft, light, and durable. Only the best down pillows are made using Hungarian white goose down found closest to the chest of the bird.
The first thing to understand, is what a down pillow actually is, and how it differs from a feather pillow. Down comes from the area between the skin and feathers of a goose. Down & Feather Co. Hungarian white goose down clusters are much softer, lighter and longer lasting than feathers.
So, what does that mean for you? As all of us know, the most comfortable time for a pillow is right when you lay your head on it for the evening. Because of the nature of down, your pillow will maintain that shape and temperature longer, maximizing your comfort level.
On average, an adult will spend 25-33% of their lives asleep. This is a time that many of us take for granted, but that is a mistake. For the time that we are awake, we spend it trying to surround ourselves with a comfortable living space. From our furniture, to the clothes that we wear, most people are looking to be comfortable. The primary difference is you will sleep "IN" our down pillows and "ON" our feather pillows. Using only the finest Hungarian white goose down allows us to create the the most luxurious down pillows. Our Down is found under the feathers and much closer to the animals skin around the chest. Down traps the air that is then warmed by the goose. While feathers have a quill and drap over the down found on the chest closest to the skin helping keep the geese dry.
Our down pillows come in three different varieties. You can choose between Snuggle Soft, Natural Nights, and Quality Rest, each made of the luxurious Hungarian white or European goose down. Though they differ from each other in various ways, they are all of the highest quality and are guaranteed to support your head and neck throughout the night.
Our Quality Rest down pillows feature a long stitched Egyptian cotton shell, that is white colored. On the outside, they are double row stitched with a golden perimeter. They have a 650 fill power, and are our most modestly priced down pillow option.
The Natural Nights down pillow is similar to the Quality Rest variety in how it is constructed. However, they have a 750 fill power and are slightly more expensive than Quality Rest, though they retain their shape and temperature better, due to the higher fill power.
Our most luxurious variety is the Snuggle Soft. With a whopping 850 fill power, you would be hard pressed to find a more comfortable pillow. It might be more expensive than the other two varieties, but you will know why when you lay your head down for the evening.

Fill power represents quality, loft and the size of the down cluster. The higher the fill power the higher the quality, the higher it will loft and the longer it will "retain its firmness" (i.e. years it will last). DO NOT use fill power as a "measure of firmness", higher fill power does NOT mean it will be a firmer pillow and 850 fill power down pillows are NOT firmer than 650 fill power down pillows. However, the 850 fill power pillow is higher quality and will last longer.
Density, (i.e. soft, medium, firm, exra firm) is determined by, fill weight, which is adjusted by the amount of down inside the pillow. For example, our standard soft 800 fill power pillow contains (14 oz.) while the medium contains (16 oz.) firm contains (18oz.) and extra firm has (21 oz.) stuffed into the pillow shell.
Down pillows are made from soft, fluffy clusters found beneath the feathers of ducks or geese. Unlike regular feathers, down clusters don't have sharp quills, which gives these pillows their smooth and cushiony texture. The high loft and flexibility of down create a cloud-like softness, making them ideal for those who prefer a plush sleeping experience.
Soft down pillows are best suited for stomach and back sleepers because they provide gentle support without raising the head too high. Side sleepers may prefer a firmer pillow for proper neck and spine alignment. If you're a side sleeper but love the softness of down, consider a pillow with a higher fill power or a firmer inner core for better support.
With proper care, soft down pillows can last anywhere from 2 to 5 years. To extend their lifespan, it's important to regularly fluff and air them out to maintain their shape and prevent the down from clumping. Using a pillow protector and following care instructions, such as occasional washing, will also help keep them in good condition.
The softest pillow is typically made from down, especially those with a high fill power (700 and above). Down pillows made from goose or duck down clusters are renowned for their luxurious softness and lightweight feel. If you’re looking for ultimate softness, opt for 100% down rather than a down-feather blend, as pure down pillows offer the most cloud-like experience.
While down pillows are incredibly soft and comfortable, they do have a few disadvantages. They can be more expensive than synthetic options, and they tend to lose their shape over time, requiring regular fluffing to maintain loft. Down pillows may also not provide enough support for some sleepers, especially side sleepers. Additionally, they require special care, such as gentle washing and drying, to avoid damage.
